CITROËN C1 AND 2 CV: 100 YEARS OF AGILITY

A city car having sold in over one million units since launch in 2005, Citroën C1 scores high on freshness and optimism. Making urban mobility more broadly affordable, it appeals through its new colour and materials schemes and its technological equipment. Citroën C1 is inspired by customers and their lifestyles and makes their day-to-day life easier in both hatchback and open-top versions. Agile and practical, it nips in and out of tight spaces in the city thanks to its compact dimensions and impressive handling.

All of which makes it difficult not to draw a parallel with another iconic, and equally agile, model! The 2 CV of the 1950s, a symbol of freedom. A “Very Small Car” or “umbrella on four wheels” able to “transport a basket of eggs over a field without a single one breaking”. These were the specifications set in 1936 before the definitive model was revealed at the1948 Paris Motor Show with the 2 CV name. Having celebrated its 70th birthday last year, the legendary model boasts record longevity, produced in over 5 million units through July 1990.

CITROËN C3 AND TRACTION AVANT: 100 YEARS OF CUSTOMISATION

A versatile and colourful hatchback, Citroën C3 is the top-selling model in the range with over 470,000 orders so far. It stands out with its unique body styling, uncompromising comfort and technologies that enhance everyday use. It also attracts through its customisation potential, with 36 possible combinations outside, with 3 two-tone roofs, and 4 interior design schemes. Each person can choose a car in their own image.

Back in the 1930s, motorists could already customise the “pilot” wheels of their Traction Avant in red, yellow or green. Later, the Ami 6 was available with graphic-rich interiors including the famous “holly leaf” pattern available in hazelnut, blue, red and olive green hues. Limited series were also created, bringing motorists exclusive customisation features with, for example, the 2 CV Spot (in striped orange and white paint), the 2 CV Charleston (with its two-tone red-and-black or yellow-and-black look), as well as the AX KWAY and its replacement the Saxo in the 1980s and 1990s.

NEW CITROËN C4 CACTUS HATCHBACK AND GS : 100 YEARS OF COMFORT

Launched almost a year ago, and having brought a breath of fresh air to the compact hatchback segment by blending the unique personality of Cactus with the benchmark comfort of C4, New C4 Cactus Hatchback embodies the Citroën Advanced Comfort® programme. It was the first model in Europe to be equipped with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions® and Advanced Comfort seats, bringing a “magic carpet ride” effect to the greatest number.

While New C4 Cactus Hatchback makes cocoon-like comfort available to a broad public, the Citroën GS was a benchmark in this respect in the 1970s. The GS was the first car to make hydropneumatic suspension broadly available. Modern through its styling and smart through its bold technology, the GS won the Car of the Year award in 1971. It followed on from the comfort offered by the legendary 1955 DS, the queen of the road, and its prestigious ancestor, the Traction Avant.

CITROËN C3 AIRCROSS COMPACT SUV AND HALF-TRACK  : 100 YEARS OF ADVENTURE

With its go-anywhere body styling and powerful and fresh attitude, C3 Aircross Compact SUV is equally at ease in the city and out on the open road. C3 Aircross brings adventure-lovers a new experience through its SUV character and Grip Control technology (combined with Hill Assist Descent) offering grip in all road conditions (sand, snow)... A new benchmark on comfort and practicality in the compact SUV segment, it has proved a strong seller, with over 140,000 units ordered since launch in October 2017.

The adventuresome spirit of C3 Aircross is intrinsic to the Brand’s DNA. The 1920s and 1930s were marked by a taste for the exotic. In 1922, the Citroën B2 Half-Track Model K1, named the “golden scarab”, was one of the first 5 motorised vehicles in history to cross the Sahara during 3500km. By organising this pioneering expedition, André Citroën showed the entire world the reliability of his brand’s vehicles. This human adventure was a prelude to Citroën’s famous “Croisière Jaune” and “Croisière Noire” expeditions in 1924 and 1931.

CITROËN C-ELYSÉE AND TRACTION AVANT : 100 YEARS OF SALOONS

A three-box saloon with an international calling, Citroën C-Elysée is renowned for its comfort and spaciousness. It is a spacious model fully in tune with its times in terms of styling and equipment and stands as an attractive alternative in the Citroën range for customers looking for a modern and affordable three-box body.

Going back in time, Citroën created other three-box saloons before C-Elysée. For example, C5, a winning blend of style, technology and comfort, produced in two generations in the 21st century. And from the 20th century, the Traction Avant, featuring a rear trunk that doubled boot capacity. And before that came the Rosalie, a combination of charm and refinement, and perfectly meeting motorists’ expectations on well-being and appeal.

CITROËN C4/GRAND C4 SPACETOURER AND C4F : 100 YEARS OF FAMILY TRAVEL

The new “SpaceTourer” name, replacing “Picasso”, concerns the two MPV body styles, C4 and Grand C4 SpaceTourer. Together, they symbolise ingeniousness and limitless adventure. C4 and Grand C4 are cheerful vehicles able to transport 5 to 7 people in singular comfort. They also boast modern styling and latest-generation engines and technologies.

While the two models C4 and Grand C4 SpaceTourer, both benefit from Citroën expertise in cabin space and versatility, at the end of the 1920s the Citroën C4 F also demonstrated outstanding practicality. A family car par excellence, it offered 5 seats and a removable rear bench as well as a split-opening tailgate. At the end of the 1990s, Xsara Picasso, the forerunner of C4 Picasso, was Citroën's first compact MPV with 3 identical rear seats. Two years before in 1996, came the family-friendly Berlingo Multispace, which created the leisure activity vehicle segment.
